Hawaii: Language Access

According to census data, about 25.9% (373,010 people) exclusively speak a language other than English at home. 11.1% of people (150,000 people) are Limited English Proficiency (LEP). About 1.7% (14,254 people) are classified as having a hearing disability According to the CDC, more than 24,000 people identify as being blind or having a severe difficulty seeing even with glasses. 11.2% of the population lives below the poverty level and 15.9% of adults are classified as illiterate.
