Enhancing Organizational Capacity for Our Communities is a 2 day training that will bring together about 30 participants who are interested in strengthening their capacity to effectively manage, operate and sustain their organizations. The goal of this training is to increase the organizational capacity of OVW grantees and their partners serving culturally specific, rural, tribal, and underserved communities. Conference on Crimes against Women

April 16-19, 2018 in Dallas, TX

The goal of the Conference on Crimes Against Women is to provide practical instruction, using current information, the newest ideas and most successful intervention strategies, to those professionals responsible for combating the many and varied forms of crimes against women. The conference is conducted for the sole purpose of providing training to only those people employed by governmental or non-profit agencies in the fields of law enforcement, prosecution, social work, victim's advocacy, therapy, probation/parole, campus safety and medicine who work directly with victims of crime.

Internationally recognized, the Crimes Against Children Conference is the premier conference of its kind providing practical and interactive instruction to those fighting crimes against children and helping children heal. There were more than 4,300 professionals from around the world in 2017!

The conference is presented annually by the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center and the Dallas Police Department. The conference is conducted to provide training to those employed by government or nonprofit agencies in the fields of law enforcement, child protective services, social work, children's advocacy, therapy, and medicine who work directly with child victims of crime.

The 2018 National Sexual Assault Conference will be held on August 29-31 in Anaheim, CA. The theme is “Bold Moves: Ending Sexual Violence in One Generation.” This event will be cohosted with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape (PCAR) and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC). A CALL TO MEN’s 2017 National Conference will explore the Many Faces of Manhood. Through engaging keynotes, roundtable discussions and interactive breakout sessions, attendees will learn how the collective socialization of men creates a fertile ground for violence and discrimination against women and girls. Those same notions of sexism and inequality hold men hostage to the rigid norms of manhood. A CALL TO MEN will convene influential and passionate voices to examine healthy, respectful manhood in athletics, education, incarceration, fatherhood, faith communities and around issues of gender. As men are empowered to be their authentic selves, we will collectively create a world where all men and boys are loving and respectful and all women and girls are valued and safe.

APSAC pioneered the Forensic Interview Training Clinic model to focus on the needs of professionals responsible for conducting forensic/investigative interviews with children in suspected abuse cases. Interviews with children have received intense scrutiny in recent years and increasingly require specialized training and expertise. This comprehensive Clinic offers a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive 40 hour training experience and have personal interaction with leading experts in the field of child forensic interviewing. Developed by top experts, APSAC’s curriculum teaches a structured narrative interview approach that emphasizes best practices based on research and is guided by best interests of the child. Attendees will receive a balanced review of several protocols and will develop their own customized narrative interview approach based on the principles taught during the Clinic and contained in the 2012 APSAC Practice Guidelines on Forensic Interviewing in Cases of Suspected Child Abuse.

Supervising individuals who have sexually offended is an essential element of a comprehensive approach to reducing and preventing sexual violence. Such supervision strategies must be evidence-informed, collaborative, and responsive to survivors’ rights, needs, and interests. The Center for Sex Offender Management (CSOM), the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) and the Resource Sharing Project (RSP), with support from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), have embarked on a partnership aimed at increasing understanding and practical application of a victim-centered approach to supervising these individuals. As part of the initiative, this webinar series is designed to address a variety of information needs identified by victim advocates and supervision officers, but other stakeholders with an interest in learning about these issues are welcome to participate.
