STATEMENT: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ENOLA, Pa. – Today, Kristen Houser, Chief Public Affairs Officer of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape released a statement on changing public perceptions of sexual assault:

ENOLA-The District attorney’s office in Montgomery County charged Bill Cosby with one felony charge of aggravated indecent assault today stemming from a January 2004 incident in which the victim said Cosby drugged and assaulted her.

The criminal statute of limitations for sexual assault cases, which in Pennsylvania is 12 years, was set to expire in January 2016.

The criminal investigation into Cosby was reopened in July after new evidence was learned, according to Montgomery County prosecutor Kevin Steele.

December 21, 2015

The National Partnership, comprised of NSVRC, the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence (NAESV), and PreventConnect/CALCASA, received initial funding from the NFL to bolster prevention strategies, strengthen the response to victims of sexual assault, and improve access to treatment for those who commit sexual offenses. Activities will also include coordination of policy, prevention, and messaging initiatives and awarding grants that advance these goals.
