Description: 

This free P.O.S.T. approved course will be presented by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. The course will provide participants with the information and skills necessary to return to their respective agencies and teach domestic violence and sexual assault intervention and investigation skills. Program topics will include updated legal issues, proper service of protective orders, investigative techniques, officer and victim survival techniques, sexual abuse investigative techniques and more. Students attending the school will not only receive classroom instruction, but will have the opportunity to participate in various practical scenarios as well.

INSTRUCTORS: Instructors include Mark Wynn, International Law Enforcement Expert, David Kitts, Knoxville, Police Department, Joanne Archambault, Director EVAW International, and Kathy Walsh, Director, TN Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.

The Coalition will host a training on Trauma Informed Care for domestic and sexual violence programs on Thursday, December 13 from 10:00-4:00 EST. This training will examine the effects of trauma on survivors and advocates, introduce Tennessee's new comprehensive statewide policy for trauma-informed care, and give advocates the tools they need to effectively work with survivors in crisis.
