Description: 

What?
Covering a range of topics that impact victim safety and confidentiality, this conference will provide tools and best practices to enhance victim services programs and innovative partnerships. Attendees will learn and review best practices to effectively address critical technology and confidentiality issues.

Topics will include:

  • emerging technology safety issues
  • technology use within partnerships
  • GPS monitoring of offenders
  • safe and effective outreach to sexual assault victims
  • sexting, social networking, and information online
  • mandatory reporting laws
  • confidentiality and VAWA 2005 obligations
  • privacy and electronic health records
  • data collection, data sharing, and data retention

Who?
For any victim service programs or innovative partnerships, such as coordinated community response teams, co-located services, sexual assault response teams (SARTs), or comprehensive victim service centers, who are working to address domestic violence, dating abuse, sexual assault, and stalking issues.

As part of SPAN's comittment to a social agenda that seeks to address the systems of oppression and injustice that foster domestic violence, SPAN is hosting a half day workshop that will provide a safe space to discuss and share ideas, issues, initiatives, with other community members interested in addressing intersections of race, class, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender, ethnicity, social systems, systems of oppression, and diverse cultures. The workshop highlights the collaborations between SPAN and other organizations committed to the same outcomes.

COST: $25 per person / $15 for students (includes breakfast)

The Vagina Monologues, the award winning episodic play by Eve Ensler, will be making an appearance in the Denver community this April. This event is being sponsored by the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA), the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance (COVA), and Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. This benefit performance will raise funds for CCASA and COVA to provide services for victims of sexual assault throughout the state. All ticket proceeds benefit CCASA and COVA and will help their work with women in Colorado. 

The 2009 Denver production of the Vagina Monologues is comprised of a group of wonderful women from the Denver community who are coming together to raise funds for sexual assault victims in Colorado. The cast includes 23 fantastic women from Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Project Safeguard, the Denver Foundation, college students, sex columnists and much more!
