Housing and Sexual Violence: Overview of National Survey

In 2008, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center partnered with the Victims Rights Law Center, National Sexual Assault Coalition Resource Sharing Project, Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault, University of New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania Community Legal Services to develop and conduct a national survey on housing and sexual violence.  This report provides a summary of key survey findings and policy recommendations.

Housing and Sexual Violence Online Collection

This online collection was developed by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center to assist communities in developing more effective strategies to address the complex issue of housing and sexual violence. Housing and Sexual Violence Technical Assistance Bulletin

Sexual violence and housing are intricately linked by several factors including access to affordable housing, various forms of oppression and sex offender management.  This four page document offers information on each of these topics as well as a section on how advocates can help survivors.

Housing and Sexual Violence Fact Sheet

Safe, affordable, and stable housing can be a protective factor against both sexual violence perpetration and victimization.  This two page fact sheet offers information on the impact of housing costs, housing and various forms of oppression, and how advocates can help. 

Hate Violence against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Communities

This reports documents hate-motivated violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people in 2009 in the United States as reported to member organizations of the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP). It includes statistics, trends, narratives and responses and recommendations for change.

Reproductive Health of Urban American Indian and Alaska Native Women: Examining Unintended Pregnancy, Contraception, Sexual History and Behavior, and Non-Voluntary Sexual Intercourse

 
This report presents baseline information on pregnancies, births, sexual history and behavior, contraceptive use, non-voluntary sex, and unintended pregnancy among urban American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) women nationwide.

Sexual Violence and Homelessness

This bulletin discusses the links between homelessness and sexual violence, barriers to receiving services and information on what rape crisis centers can do to meet the needs of people who are homeless. 

Preventing and Responding to Domestic & Sexual Violence in Later Life

This special collection brings together selected materials related to preventing and responding to elder abuse, specifically domestic and sexual violence. In doing so, it draws from the work of the National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL), National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) and other organizations. By focusing specifically on domestic and sexual violence (DV/SV) in later life, this special collection highlights the complexities of older people's DV/SV experiences and emphasizes collaborative and multi-pronged approaches to addressing DV/SV in later life. 

 

Reproductive Justice & Violence Against Women: Understanding the Intersections

The purpose of this special collection is to provide resources and an introduction to reproductive justice, focusing particularly on the connections between the elimination of reproductive oppression and domestic and sexual violence. Included is a basic definition of reproductive justice, information about the development and the history of the Reproductive Justice Movement, and related resources. Highlighted in this collection are resources that relate to the holistic well-being of women, families, and communities as it pertains to violence against women and reproductive rights and health. "Reproductive Justice & Violence Against Women: Understanding the Intersections" makes connections between the Reproductive Justice Movement and the Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Movements in the United States to demonstrate the necessity of collaboration. This collection was developed by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence, and the Women of Color Network. Researcher Trauma, Safety and Sexual Violence

This briefing paper provides a thematic analysis of of the Sexual Violence Research Initiative Forum discussion related to researchers experiencing trauma while undertaking sexual violence research. Strategies and resources for dealing with trauma are discussed.
