  • Training and technical assistance: Experience developing training materials; training providers in-person or via distance learning technology; and working with local, state, or federal entities on strategy development, prevention effectiveness, coalition-building, and/or sustainability.
  • Education and research: Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; Experience in reviewing qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Organizational skills: Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines in a high-quality manner; attention to detail as needed.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; multi-task; and shift priorities as needed.
  • Commitment: Commitment to and demonstrated success in prevention; Desire to achieve significant prevention outcomes; Commitment to reducing inequities in health and safety.
  • Interest in preventing violence: Interest in working on preventing violence. Special consideration may also be given for experience in and understanding of effective primary prevention of violence.

Description: 

Prenvtion Institute is looking for a Program Coordinator who is committed to improving health and safety and reducing inequities through a focus on prevention. This position will include responsibility for: coordinating multiple projects to ensure success; applying research findings to improve prevention initiatives; developing training tools and curriculum; conducting trainings and presentations; providing consultation to communities and organizations; staff supervision and shared responsibilities within the organization. The Institute's approach is interdisciplinary in nature, addressing health and social issues such as violence prevention, injury prevention, traffic safety, and nutrition and physical activity promotion. The Institute is particularly committed to reducing disparities in health and safety. This position will have a primary focus on reducing inequities and preventing violence, including multiple forms of violence with work on local, state and national initiatives, though may include work on other topics. The Institute works nationally on preventing intimate partner violence, sexual assault and violence affecting youth and communities.

Responsibilities may include

  • Program coordination: Coordinating projects, such as funded initiatives, the development of grants and papers, contracts, etc. to ensure successful and timely completion.
  • Training, Presentations, and Consultation: Developing training tools and curricula and conducting trainings and presentations; providing consultation to organizations and communities on effective prevention.
  • Secondary Research: Reviewing the literature or other resources, conducting interviews, and synthesizing key finding to inform prevention initiatives and tools.
  • Organizational Development: Sharing responsibility for administrative and detail work required for project and organization success.
  • Supervision: Supervising one or more staff.
  • Other: Pitching in on other projects and assignments as needed

Salary and Benefits

51-60K DOE. Excellent benefits package and retirement plan. The appropriate salary level is determined by a review of relevant experience and set according to a principle of equity within the organization.
