If you have been watching the headlines, an unfortunate reality has come to the forefront of mainstream media and in-turn our broader culture’s conversation: child sexual abuse happens.

In the down time since April, we keep-up the conversation about sex, sexuality and preventing violence. But, it doesn’t quite look like this: three days, hundreds of professionals, hours upon hours of talking sex, sex, sex.

Something exciting is happening this week, and I'd like to pass the proverbial "mic" to an NSVRC colleague whose passion for WEAAD is contagious! Oh, but first - let me fill you in, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day or WEAAD is an awesome campaign that proudly declares: My World...Your World...Our World – Free of Elder Abuse.

So as we’ve discussed, April has come and gone with many exciting awareness activities to prove it. Now that we are well on our way to Mid-May, brains at NSVRC are turning over the next campaign. Before we get ahead of ourselves, we want to make sure that as we move forward we take time to reflect, listen and learn about the past campaign.

Since our twitter debut last year, SAAM has been building a social media presence that led us to hosting our first twitter live chats. The #TweetAboutIt Tuesday! Twitter chat series kicked-off during SAAM 2012 as an opportunity to utilize new media and engage online audiences in discussing healthy sexuality.
