INCITE! Women of Color Against Violence, is a national activist organization of radical feminists of color advancing a movement to end violence against women of color and their communities through direct action, critical dialogue and grassroots organizing. Ending Colonial Legacies (ECL) is a Colorado based, women of color led initiative that has worked toward dismantling the legacy of colonialism & eventual abolishment of Columbus Day through non-violent resistance and political education.
The 2008 annual Gathering will interweave the importance of staying healthy in mind, body, and spirit as we continue to work as women of color activists. The Gathering is a space for women of color to relax, socialize, and organize. We will not have traditional workshops with speakers, but instead attendees will participate in mini-gatherings, conversations, exercises and enrichment activities.
Workshops include: Building Regional Grassroots Solidarity, Popular Education Models, Revolutionary Motherhood, When the Revolution Burns You Out: Healthy Conflict Resolution and Self Care, Organizing with Mothers of Children in the Youth Offender System, & more…
The 2008 Ending Colonial Legacies Healing and Activism Retreat is sponsored by: The Chinook Fund, RESIST, Colorado Criminal Justice Reform Coalition (CCJRC), and INCITE!Denver.
