The National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault (SCESA) is launching the “Expanding the Network” Project to enhance the capacity and increase the number of Communities of Color (COC) organizations engaged in culturally relevant approaches to addressing sexual assault. 

As part of this effort, SCESA will be hosting a Regional Workshop sponsored by the U. S. Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. The regional workshop will provide information to Communities of Color organizations* who are interested in increasing their capacity to engage their communities and craft strategies addressing sexual assault. 

*Communities of Color organizations are defined as organizations led by and primarily for Asian/Pacific Islander, Black/African American, Latina(o) and Native American communities.

This regional workshop is for Communities of Color organizations who:

  • are interested in starting an anti-sexual assault program; or
  • have attempted to create an anti-sexual assault program but need further assistance; or 
  • currently struggling to effectively maintain an anti-sexual assault program

How much: There is no charge to attend the regional workshop. SCESA is able to provide some support for travel costs associated with participating in the regional workshop. If you need assistance, please let us know when you fill out the application.

Call for Workshop Proposals

The National Center for Victims of Crime is seeking presenters for its National Training Institute, to be held September 9-11, 2015, at the Hyatt Regency Orange County, in Aneheim, CA. Workshops will address a wide range of topics organized into separate conference tracks. Workshops are scheduled for 90 minutes (1.5 hours) in length, unless otherwise specified in the proposal. Accepted presenters will be assigned day and presentation time by the Institute planning committee.

2015 National Training Institute Overview

The National Center is pleased to present the National Center for Victims of Crime 2015 National Training Institute. As in past years, this training will emphasize a multidisciplinary approach to sharing promising practices, current research, and effective programs and policies that are victim-centered, practice-based, and research-informed. Our National Conference is a forum for law enforcement, victim service professionals, allied practitioners, policymakers, and researchers to share current developments and build new collaborations. Conference sessions will highlight practical information to better support services for the wide range of persons victimized by crimes of all types.
