Instinctive Defense, LLC to benefit Shenandoah Women's Center
This class will benefit The Shenandoah Women's Center. The cost is $20.00 for a 3 hour women's self defense class taught by a Certified Instructor. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month & this is one way Instinctive Defense, LLC is trying to make a difference. We need to create awareness !! This class will include videos, hands on techniques & valuable information on date rape drugs and how to be more aware of your surroundings. You will be put in the worse positions & taught how to escape them. You will be able to use the techniques on a mock "bad guy". This will ensure you are doing the techniques correctly, create confidence & better prepare you mentally if ever attacked. It's best to practice in a safe environment, not walk around "without" a plan! Limited space ! You must pre-register.
The Clothesline Project offers a visual display designed to illustrate violence against women and children through the creation of message t-shirts. Each t-shirt is decorated by a survivor, or by someone who cares about them. The shirts will be on display in the UI Commons Rotunda from April 18th-22nd.
The mission of the S.H.O.E.S. (Sharing Her/His Own Experiences Supportively) Program is to introduce our community to personal stories of University of Idaho sexual assault survivors/victims and their families. By supportively revealing these experiences our intention is to increase awareness, create community, and build intolerance for rape supportive behaviors within our campus culture. B.E.A.R. paw prints will serve as a guide to encourage a collective journey of education and awareness toward holding student rapists accountable for their actions.
