This statewide project presents shirts – displayed on a clothesline strung through the Pecan Court on campus – that personalize gender-based violence. The display is made by survivors of violence against women, including sexual assault and domestic violence. SEXplorations, a student organization, will sponsor a t-shirt making program on Friday evening. Students, staff, and faculty will be able to add their own shirts to the clothesline to either tell their own stories or those of women close to them.

The 'clothesline project' is an event designed to bring awareness to the community about assault and for community members to receive information about our services. The clothesline project is held nationwide as "a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women."

Women’s Crisis Support ~ Defensa de Mujeres would like to invite you to participate in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Saturday, April 9th at Lighthouse Point on West Cliff Drive in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes ®: The International Men’s March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence is a nationwide event that invites families to participate in a one mile walk, literally in her shoes by wearing women’s high heels, to raise awareness around issues of rape, sexual assault, and gender violence. There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks community members to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes. It's not easy walking in these shoes, but it's fun and it gets the community to talk about something that's really difficult to talk about: gender relations and sexual violence.
