Just Detention International and the PREA Resrouce Center are holding two FREE full-day trainings in Columbia, SC. The first training, on April 23, will focus on creating a trauma-informed victim services program, as required by the PREA standards.The second training, in April 24, will provide corrections staff with the skills to develop inmate education programs that comply with the PREA standards. Both trainings will be held at the same site in Columbia, SC. Because the sessions complement each other, it is encouraged that you attend both. Each will feature interactive exercies, expert panels, sexual abuse survivor testimonies, and group discussions that cater to individuals working in a range of detention settings. The 2012 Prevention of Youth Substance Abuse in Rural Communities: Reaching Out to Missing Partners is a training conference that emphasizes the unique challenges of conducting youth prevention in rural communities. The conference was founded by one of the most successful prevention coalitions in the country in hopes of raising awareness of the plight that many rural communities face with regards to the prevention of youth substance abuse.
