The campus, with picturesque Montcalm Lake and acres of majestic hardwoods, is striking in October.The Reclaiming Youth Conference takes place Monday morning, October 22 through Wednesday noon, October 24. Then, on Wednesday afternoon, October 24 through Friday noon, October 26 for one of three 2-day training sessions including Response Ability Pathways (RAP), Developmental Audit, or The Three Pillars of TraumaWise Care.

Description: 

"Trauma and Chemical Use and Addiction" will be presented on by Dr. Tana Bridge, Ph.D., LMSW; MSW Program Director, School of Social Work, Eastern Michigan University. Current research highlights the relationship between chemical use, addiction and trauma. This presentation by an award-winning trauma expert will review events involved with trauma exposure, trauma specific symptomology, the impact trauma has on the brain and on coping and subsequent substance use, and how to aid individuals struggling with trauma and addiction.

This program is part of the FREE, annual Dawn Farm Education Series. All programs are free and open to anyone interested. Registration is not required. 1.5 hours of free C.E. approved by MCBAP (Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals) is offered for each workshop. A certificate to document attendance is provided on request. The Education Series is organized by Dawn Farm, a non-profit community of programs providing a continuum of chemical dependency services.

The Underground Railroad Inc. of Saginaw County will host Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Saturday at Nouvel Catholic Central High School, 2555 Wienke in Saginaw Township.


The international men’s march will feature men walking a mile in high-heeled shoes to raise awareness of women's issues such as rape and sexual assault.


Registration begins at 3 p.m. and the race starts at 4 p.m. followed by food and entertainment.


Cost to register is $25 for an individual or $100 for a team of five and includes a commemorative shirt and use of a pair of shoes.
