Take Back the Night is an annual march and rally that has been taking place in Lexington for well over 30 years. This event unites campus and community members to recognize the collective power of our community to end violence, especially sexual assault, stalking, and partner violence. 

Take Back the Night will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. The march begins at 7pm from three different locations in Lexington:

  • Thoroughbred Park (intersection of E. Main Street and Midland Avenue)
  • Third Street Stuff and Coffee (257 N. Limestone)
  • Patterson Office Tower Plaza (University of Kentucky campus)

The marches will meet at Courthouse Plaza at 7:30pm for the Take Back the Night rally. In case of inclement weather, the rally will be inside Central Christian Church at 205 E. Short Street (behind the courthouse). The rally includes special speakers, live music, a speak-out, candlelight vigil, and more! There will be an after-party immediately following at Third Street Stuff and Coffee (257 N. Limestone).

This conference brings together professionals from a variety of fields including criminal justice, disability rights, Deaf rights, self-advocacy, violence against women, and other to highlight promising practices for serving survivors with disabilities; explore emerging issues at the intersection of violence and disability; and foster networking among those working to end violence against people with disabilities. The conference features 5 keynote addresses, more than 30 workshops, a promising practices showcase, and an art exhibit.Who Should Attend

The Bridging the Gap: Creating a Community of Support for Survivors with Disabilities conference will take place in Louisville, Kentucky.  The conference will bring together over 300 professionals from a variety of fields including respresentatives of anti-domestic and sexual violence service providers, disability service providers, criminal justice professionals, self-advocates from the disability rights movement, and other allied professionals.  The conference will highlight promising practices for serving survivors with disabilities; explore emerging issues at the intersection of violence adn disability; and foster networking among those working to end violence against people with disabilities.
