Second biennial conference aimed towards increasing knowledge about health equity and sharing best practices to reduce health disparities that affect underserved and vulnerable populations in Pennsylvania.  The focus at this year’s conference will be the impact of chronic diseases and its associated risk factors for diverse populations, particularly for immigrants/refugees, as well as the role that socioeconomic differences, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, disabilities, etc., play in creating health disparities.  It includes, but it is not limited to, cultural competence, language issues, health literacy, as well as the impact of the social determinants of health in achieving health equity.Registration coming soon.

affects their level of self-esteem throughout life. We will explore links that have been made between childhood experiences, self esteem, and the prevalence of abuse, as well as, how culture fits into the equation.

The SNAP support group for the Philadelphia area will be meeting on Thursday, September 18th from 7:00 to 8:30 PM and will continue to meet on the third Thursday of every month. Phyllis McHugh, Jim St. George and Karen Polesir will be there to facilitate the meeting. Survivors, family members and supporters are welcome and encouraged to attend this important meeting.

They have welcomed and supported survivors. Churches can be scary places but this church has offered us place to meet, a place where your privacy is protected and you have a chance to meet with fellow survivors.
