The Research & Advocacy Digest is a publication of the Washington Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs. It was originally conceived as a tool to help sexual assault advocates stay informed about new developments and recent research related to the work of sexual assault victim advocacy. This issue focuses on the public health approach to sexual violence.

The purpose of this brief is to provide a broad overview of current research, professional literature, and practice trends relative to treatment for sexually abusive individuals.
Understanding Treatment for Adults and Juveniles Who Have Committed Sex Offenses

This briefing paper reviews some of the existing literature that deals with sexual assault and service provision outside metropolitan areas and takes into account some of the issues that women and workers often need to negotiate when living in rural areas. The review examines the societal factors that influence rates of sexual violence, women’s immediate and long term responses to such violence, including a range of health related harms, and the interventions and treatments developed to respond to the needs of survivors of sexual violence and reduce its prevalence.
