Identifying Resources

Preparing your Proposal

Introduction

Getting the resources you need to operate your sexual violence response programs is key to your sustainability. Critical steps include identifying resources for funding and preparing your grant proposal or application. Below are links for assistance with these steps.

Successful grant-writing requires solid advance planning and preparation. It takes time to coordinate your planning; research, organize, write and package your proposal; submit your proposal to the funder and follow up.

It is most important that you understand clearly the grant maker’s guidelines before you write your proposal. Make sure the grant maker’s goals and objectives match your grant seeking purposes and that you are eligible to compete for funding.

Once you know you are eligible and there is a match between what the funder is offering and what you need, you must organize your proposal well; pay attention to detail and specifications; use concise, persuasive writing and request reasonable funding.
