Engaging Bystanders Together
“LIVE xCHANGE” April 12, 2011 2:30-3:30 pm Eastern
Join the live real time discussion moderated by Dr. Banyard on bystander intervention. Bystander intervention serves as the central theme and approach in the National Sexual Violence Resource Center’s 2011 Sexual Assault Awareness Month Campaign: It’s Time…to Get Involved.

 
Continued discussion on bystander intervention will occur through the xCHANGE forum through April 15, 2011. This exchange will not be a real time discussion but the forum will be open for questions, responses and comments. Dr. Banyard will reply with daily responses.

About Our Moderator
 

Victoria Banyard is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire and co-Director of Prevention Innovations: Research and Practices for Ending Violence Against Women on Campus. She has a doctorate in clinical psychology and a certificate in Women’s Studies. Her research focuses on the long term mental health consequences of interpersonal violence with emphasis on the resilience of survivors. Most recently her research has centered on evaluating college campus prevention efforts to prevent sexual violence and on understanding the correlates of community members who become active bystanders in preventing violence and supporting survivors. She is a Senior Associate Editor for the journal Child Abuse and Neglect and serves on the editorial board for Psychology of Violence and the Sexual Assault Report and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center National Advisory Council.
