General Summary of Duties: To enhance and expand comprehensive services for survivors of sexual assault, with emphasis on underserved communities, to include crisis intervention, information and referral, advocacy within the criminal justice systems, and outreach.
*Provides crisis intervention to victims of sexual assault and abuse through the crisis line and hospital accompaniment, participating in agency on-call rotation;
*Assists the Crisis Program with follow up, personal and legal advocacy, and crisis intervention for victims,
*Provides outreach and information to underserved communities, including individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ, Latinos/as, and the elderly, about sexual assault and abuse and the services available at STSM;
*Represents STSM with numerous organizations serving sexual assault survivors and/or underserved communities;
*Provides interpretation for Hispanics/Latinos during individual counseling sessions with licensed therapists;
*Creates and implements trainings for social workers, advocates, medical personnel, and law enforcement to provide them an approach that is sensitive to the cultural characteristics of underserved communities;
*Creates and implements training for STSM staff on how to best serve underserved populations;
*Prepares monthly reports, quarterly reports, and annual progress reports for funding grant; and
*Ensures grant objectives are met and documented.
