Brooklyn, MI, June 15, 2012 - SR² Motorsports NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Angela Cope makes history this weekend by showing her on track support for ending domestic violence and sexual assault: debuting the NO MORE symbol to NASCAR fans everywhere.
Launched in March 2012, NO MORE is the first overarching, visual symbol to express support for ending domestic violence and sexual assault in our society. Like the peace sign, the yellow “support our troops” ribbon and the red AIDS ribbon, this new symbol will help generate widespread awareness and galvanize new ways to prevent the violence and abuse that tear at the fabric of our communities and undermine the quality of life for so many.
Ms. Cope and SR2 MOTORSPORTS No.24 will show off the NO MORE symbol at the 21st Annual Alliance Truck Parts 250 on June 16th at 3:30 pm ET.
Commenting on her support for NO MORE, Ms. Cope said, “Every one of us knows someone impacted by these issues -- it’s just a matter of being willing to think about it. Many people think domestic violence and sexual assault are ‘women’s issues’ that do not affect the general male population unless the victim is your mother, sister, daughter, wife, etc.”
SR² Motorsports owner, Jason Sciaviccio continued, saying that, “Changing this perception is our goal and why showing support at NASCAR is so critical. Together we will race and help end domestic violence and sexual assault."
Domestic violence and sexual assault impact millions of families, affecting people from every region, religion, race, ethnic group and socioeconomic status:
Every major domestic violence and sexual assault organization in the country is supporting the use of NO MORE as the symbol of this movement.
