Join the staff of VOICE Sexual Assault Services and local high school artists at the 3rd Annual Adolescent Allies Art Show Awards Ceremony and Presentation on Friday, May 6 at Lakeside Legacy Arts Park. The students will showcase their original, thought-provoking art pieces reflecting on this year’s theme of Self Esteem: Body, Mind or Soul.
College scholarship money will be awarded as follows: 1st place $1,000; 2nd place $500; 3rd and 4th place $250.
The reception is from 5:00 – 9:00 pm with the presentation and awards ceremony beginning at 7:00 pm. Accompanying the presentation, will be a brief educational info-session that focuses on and raises awareness of today’s issues surrounding sexual assault such as “sexting,” date rape drugs, and consent. Parents are encouraged to attend this event to learn the latest information in keeping their children and teens safe in an ever-changing world.
VOICE Sexual Assault Services is a division of Pioneer Center for Human Services, the largest social service agency in McHenry County providing services to the most at-risk youth and the most vulnerable community members. As a result of the challenging economy, VOICE continues to see a rise in the victims and families it serves. Last year, VOICE provided counseling and advocacy services to 146 victims and their significant others; and provided education and training to over 6,000 individuals. All services are free and confidential and are available to all residents of McHenry County.
