In light of several recent, heinous incidents of violence against young women, specifically the Steubenville gang rape and the attack in New Delhi, among many others, advocates have reached out to NRCDV staff about being saddened and discouraged after reading through the details of these inhumane acts of violence against young women. To help offer a way for advocates to recharge and re-engage, the NRCDV brings to you the voices of 4 powerful women who are dedicated to ending violence against women and girls and who have been working in the movement for decades.
Anne Menard, Executive Director of the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence
Chic Dabby, Director of the Asian Pacific Islander Institute on Domestic Violence
Patti Tototzintle, Chief Executive Officer of Casa de Esperanza
Umi, Project Director for the Institute on Domestic Violence in the African-American Community
Let’s learn from these four amazingly dedicated and experienced advocates about how to stay motivated and steadfast to do this work in the face of opposition, apathy, and continued acts of dehumanizing violence that often go unpunished.
