Deaf Vermonters Advocacy Services

About this Organization

Deaf Vermonters Advocacy Services (DVAS) is an agency that was officially established in 2000. They are an advocacy agency culturally and linguistically designed to meet specific needs of Deaf, Deaf/Blind and Hard of Hearing victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. DVAS provides direct services to victims, gives support to survivors, offers training to professionals, educates the Deaf and hearing community and works on collaborating with local agencies.

Victims  of sexual violence in the DoD Community may click, call or text for anonymous assistance.  The Online Helpline provides live one-on-one help, 24/7.  DoD Safe Helpline is operated by RAINN, a civilian anti-sexual violence organization.  Victims who prefer to get help by phone can call 877-995-5247 to speak with Safe Helpline staff for personalized support. Safe Helpline staff can also transfer callers to an installation or base Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs), civilian rape crisis centers or the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Victims who prefer to find out the resources in their local area can text their zip code or installation or base name to 55-247 (inside the U.S.) or 202-470-5546 (outside the U.S.) and receive contact information for the SARC on that installation or base.

Department of Defense (DoD) Safe Helpline

About this Organization

DoD Safe Helpline is the sole secure, confidential, and anonymous crisis support service specially designed for members of the Department of Defense community affected by sexual assault.

Safe Helpline is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) sole hotline for members of the DoD community affected by sexual assault. Safe Helpline is a completely anonymous, confidential, 24/7, specialized service—providing help and information anytime, anywhere. A Safe Helpline user can access one-on-one support, peer-to-peer support, information, resources, and self-care exercises to aid in their recovery.  Since 2011, Safe Helpline has provided support and resources to thousands of members of the DoD community.

Safe Helpline is available worldwide and is operated by RAINN, a national anti-sexual violence organization, through a contract with the DoD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (DoD SAPRO). Safe Helpline works closely with DoD SAPRO, each of the Military Department SAPR offices and the installation-based SAPR programs to ensure that all Safe Helpline users receive the information, support and care they need at every stage of their healing process. To ensure the anonymity of Safe Helpline services, no personally identifiable information about a user will be shared with the DoD or the user’s chain of command.

The Domestic Harmony Foundation (DHF) is a community-based, non-profit organization created in response to the social, emotional, and psychological needs of a growing South Asian, Middle Eastern, and Muslim community in Long Island. About this Organization

We are a private non-profit with decades of experience serving Idaho Falls and the surrounding area. Our trained professionals work in cooperation with other agencies to provide help and care for those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault.

 

Our goal is to reduce the tolerance for violence within our community by providing public education and other services. We seek to overcome the stigma often experienced by those affected by domestic violence, teen dating violence, and sexual assault. These crimes are preventable. Together, as a community, we can change the way violent crimes are viewed and tolerated.

 

Our Mission:

To help society overcome the stigma associated with domestic violence and sexual assault. To educate, rehabilitate and support victims of all violent crimes and to prevent such crimes as being recognized as a general part of society but rather a crime that can be prevented by a society that takes a stand against such crimes by demanding stricter sentences for offenders, more public education/resources as well as more services available to the youth affected by these crimes. Together as a community we can change the way violent crimes are viewed and tolerated.
