The National Crime Prevention Council and the National Center for Victims of Crime are seeking applicants for the Underserved Teen Victims Initiative (UTVI) project. The UTVI project, supported by a grant from the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, seeks to raise awareness about teen victimization and services that can help teen victims in underserved populations and to provide resources to victim service providers so they can better reach underserved populations of teens. NCPC and the National Center will select twenty-five local youth-adult teams to participate in UTVI during the 2010–2011 school year. Each team will receive no more than $2,500 to plan and implement a youth-led public awareness campaign. Campaign projects may include public service announcements, poster campaigns, Web sites, workshops, and assemblies, for example. Each site selected to participate in UTVI will send two youth and one adult to a training in August 2010, and NCPC and the National Center will provide ongoing training and support to all teams throughout the project.
