The Advocacy Center of Tompkins County is a progressive nonprofit agency serving adult and youth victims of domestic and sexual violence. ON-CALL CRISIS COUNSELOR/ADVOCATE: We are seeking an individual who is able to manage a wide variety and number of calls received on our crisis hotline during business hours. The person in this full-time position will provide assessment and immediate emotional support services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse, as well as to non-offending family members, professionals and people supporting victims who access services through the agency hotline. The On Call Crisis Counselor/Advocate will also accompany victims to Family Court to file for Orders of Protection, will provide assistance in reporting crimes; will provide accompaniment to interviews with law enforcement and/or child protective services caseworkers and accompaniment to sexual assault exams at Cayuga Medical Center. For full job details, including how to apply, see: SHELTER COUNSELOR/ADVOCATE: We are hiring a Domestic Violence Counselor-Advocate to work primarily with residents in our nine-bed safe house as well as with some non-residential domestic violence service users. The person in this full-time position will work at our confidential safe house four days during the M-F work week and one weekend day. The duties of this position include assessing clients for placement in our safe house, and providing emotional support, case management and advocacy services to the shelter residents and their children. The person in this position works closely with our Shelter Manager to ensure that the facility is properly maintained, safe and clean. For full job details, including how to apply, see: YOUTH SERVICES COUNSELOR/ADVOCATE: The Youth Services Counselor Advocate provides crisis intervention, emotional support, case management and systems advocacy to sexually abused youth, non-offending family members, and adult survivors of child sexual abuse. The person in this full-time position works collaboratively with law enforcement, child protective services, prosecution, medical personnel and others on behalf of the child and family and accompanies youth and families to hospital-based sexual assault exams, to meetings with law enforcement, prosecutors, and caseworkers, and to court.
