The Latino Services Coordinator position is considered full time, non-exempt in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act, and requires regular hours as well as frequent evenings and weekends. 

Responsibilities: The Latino Services Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of services that the Center provides to Spanish-speaking clients.


  1. Direct Service
  • Provide direct services to English- and Spanish-speaking clients through a 24-hour crisis hotline, including taking shifts as Staff On Call.
  • Coordinate 24-hour response for Spanish-speaking survivors of sexual violence by ensuring operation of the crisis hotline and on-call cell phone system.
  • Assist in the provision of support groups for Spanish-speaking primary and secondary survivors of sexual violence.


  1. Education & Outreach
  • Assist in the coordination and presentation of educational programs to Spanish-speaking youth and adults.
  • Conduct outreach to Latinos/as living and working in Orange County to increase awareness about services and volunteer opportunities.


  1. Community Relationships
  • Foster relationships with agencies, organizations, faith communities, and businesses serving Latinos/as in Orange County.
  • Represent the Center on community task forces and events targeting the Latino/a community in Orange County.


  1. Volunteer Management
  • Work with staff to recruit, screen, train, support, and supervise bilingual volunteer Companions and interns to staff the 24-hour crisis hotline.
  • Develop and coordinate continued education and in-service training for volunteers and staff related to the needs of Latino/a survivors of sexual violence.


  1. Program Management
  • Research, develop, and update materials and systems to ensure that Spanish-speaking clients receive bilingual and culturally competent response, referrals, and information.
  • Serve as the primary staff contact for Spanish-speaking Shout Out participants.
  • Assist with the translation of agency materials.
  • Work with staff to provide updates and reports on the status of the Latino Services program.


  1. General Responsibilities
  • Work as a team member with other staff and volunteers in order to achieve the mission of the Center.
  • Complete all relevant trainings and other tasks as required by Client Services Director.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of confidentiality.

Qualifications Required:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in human services or related field.
  2. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  3. Experience working within the Latino/a community.
  4. Experience developing and maintaining collaborative relationships between community agencies.
  5. Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  6. Experience providing assistance to survivors of sexual violence.
  7. Crisis intervention experience.
  8. Demonstration of cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competency.
  9. Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds.

Qualifications Preferred:

  1. Graduate degree or equivalent experience in human services or related field.
  2. Experience training and supervising volunteers or employees.
  3. Familiarity with community resources available for survivors of sexual violence
  4. Experience working with teams and building coalitions around issues, with knowledge of empowerment- or strengths-based practice.

Reports to: The Client Services Director of the Orange County Rape Crisis Center
