Grant Program Specialist - STOP State Coalitions, SASP Unit
This position is located in the Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, STOP State Coalitions SASP Programs Unit. Created in 1995, OVW implements the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and subsequent legislation and provides national leadership against domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. Since its inception, OVW has launched a multifaceted approach to responding to these crimes. OVW grants help provide victims with the protection and services they need to pursue safe and healthy lives and enable communities to hold offenders accountable. OVW seeks to broaden public attention to its grant programs by forging state, local and tribal partnerships and interaction among police, prosecutors, the judiciary, victim advocates, healthcare providers, faith leaders, the public and the media. The mission of the Office on Violence Against Women is to lead a comprehensive national effort to combine tough new Federal laws with assistance to states and localities to fight domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The organization seeks to broaden public attention to on-going programs through interaction with law enforcement and advocacy groups, the public, and the media.

The incumbent will serve as a Grant Program Specialist on the STOP; State Coalitions; SASP Programs Unit responsible for policy, programmatic development, oversight, planning, implementation and assessment of grant programs related to domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and other violent crimes committed against women.
Provides sound guidance to ensure grantee compliance with regulations, statutory requirements, and violence against women established best practices.
Develops substantive expertise on specific issues relevant to OVW grant programs.
Stays abreast of changes that impact assigned grant programs including new legislation, administration priorities, and OJP/OVW policies and initiatives.
Identifies emerging issues that need to be addressed through technical assistance.
Performs work related to developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in various levels of Federal, state, and local governments, criminal justice communities, and victim service providers to communicate and disseminate information about violence against women grant programs and activities.
Reviews, evaluates, oversees, and provides technical assistance on the development of grants, cooperative agreements, memorandum of understanding involving violence against women programs.
Reviews applications for grant assistance, proposed revisions, and supplemental requests to ensure that: (1) all statutory and regulatory requirements are met; (2) proposed changes are in accordance with overall program guidelines, and ; (3) grantees are utilizing Federal resources to meet the needs of their community in addressing violence against women.
Participates in the implementation of national programs and policies related to assigned grant programs and OVW priorities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Travel is required for this position.
