The National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center, Inc. (NIWRC) seeks an organized and detail oriented individual to fill the position of Communications Assistant (CA). The CA will work to build NIWRC’s public awareness activities. The CA will have a wide array of responsibilities, including gaining visibility for priority campaigns, helping NIWRC staff develop their media skills and strategies, utilizing NIWRC software and social media to communicate across our network, writing and editing content for websites and newsletters, etc. Our main office is located in Lame Deer, MT on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. Qualifications: 
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience, and or equivalent training • Demonstrated experience in public relations, journalism, civil liberties law, or a related field requiring significant writing and public relations duties • Experience in content / copy writing, journalism, layout design, content for web, etc. • Excellent organization skills that can write and/or translate ideas to paper/product. • Experience and use of social networks in an organizational context is preferred over someone who simply uses Facebook. • Demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary team setting to develop communications strategy • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex and controversial issues and to convey information about the issues to both narrow and broad audiences • Experience working in Native American communities is preferred • Must work well in a team environment • Strong verbal and written, communication, and interpersonal skills • Must demonstrate tact and grace under pressure • Exceptional research, analytical, writing and editing skills with working knowledge of the production of printed publications, including layout and graphic design • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines • Willingness to travel • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of various layout applications such as Indesign, Illustrator, Pages, etc. Also experience with Photoshop or equivalent image editing software. • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the NIWRC’s mission.
