Description: 

The Sexual Violence Justice Institute at MNCASA seeks an energetic and experienced communications and collaboration specialist for a full-time, salaried position with the agency. This person will be part of a team that provides training and technical assistance for multidisciplinary sexual assault response teams to advance a victim-centered response to sexual violence. This position will also lead the Institute’s communication efforts and specialize in the skills, strategies, and tools needed to share SVJI’s story throughout our growing networks to affect the change we promote. The Collaboration and Communications Specialist will also provide technical assistance, project design, and coaching to team leaders and other stakeholders to assist them in their efforts to improve response to sexual violence.

Location: St. Paul, Minnesota, some state and national travel

 

Qualifications: 
Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in related field or comparable combination of career and life experiences • Specialized training and/or experience in communications • Minimum of 2 years experience in sexual assault advocacy or related discipline or allied professional work with direct knowledge of criminal justice system/community response to sexual violence • Demonstrated experience identifying systems-based problems and developing broad-based responses in collaboration with stakeholders (e.g. work with multidisciplinary teams, coalitions, and/or collaborations) • Ability to work well with internal and external customers • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience teaching/training adults • Demonstrated experience working with diverse communities • Demonstrated commitment to eradicating sexual violence and knowledge of its root causes: sexism, racism, heterosexism, classism, and other systems of oppression • Adheres to a victim-centered philosophy for responders • Ability and willingness to travel • Experience with MS Office Suite Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with web page design, blogging, web-based tools for networking and communicating with project stakeholders/allies • Experience with identifying and using multiple forms of media to tell a story; and telling a story in multiple ways to reach a variety of audiences • Experience providing one to one technical assistance or coaching around group leadership/facilitation • Experience working with tribal/Native/First Nation communities • Ability to identify multiple implications of a particular course of action • Ability to consider issues/challenges with implementing best practice recommendations
