The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension (UNHCE) Sullivan County 4-H Office is looking for an AmeriCorps VISTA to serve as the Sullivan County Program Coordinator for the coming year. Sullivan County 4-H Youth Development is dedicated to providing at-risk youth and their families with engaging programs and activities within the 4-H Club system and through the 4-H LIFE Program for incarcerated parents and their children.
The VISTA member will learn about the 4-H Youth Development program and its volunteer recruitment, selection, and training process. The VISTA will reach out to vulnerable youth and their families to help them learn about the benefits of NH 4-H programs. In addition, they will work with the 4-H LIFE program to engage incarcerated parents and their children in Cooperative Extension programming. The VISTA will increase public awareness and enrollment in NH 4-H programs for at-risk youth and families living in poverty. They will build outreach systems to recruit new 4-H volunteers and connect at-risk youth to existing 4-H Clubs as well as encouraging the development of new clubs.
Through collaboration with other UNHCE staff, 4-H Club Leaders, and community partners - the VISTA will be able to plan, conduct, and evaluate programs that focus on the 4-H mission mandates and provide engaging programs for youth. The 4-H mission mandates include Healthy Living, Science and Citizenship.
Applications are being accepted until March 1, 2014 for an anticipated start date March 2014.
