The applicant must have current licensure as a registered nurse or advanced practice nurse in the state of Colorado.
A minimum of 3 years of acute care nursing experience, such as in the ER, Critical Care, Pediatrics, or Women's Health to provide advanced physical assessment skills. Applicants must be practicing currently in a clinical setting. Applicants must have current BLS certification. All candidates must interview with the SANE Coordinator and a minimum of one (1) SANE team member before being considered for hire.

Description: 

A SANE is a registered nurse who has received special education and training in order to provide comprehensive healthcare, including forensic evidence collection to pediatric, adolescent and adult survivors of sexual assault, as well as suspects. Due to their specialized expertise, the SANEs have the ability to provide expert witness testimony in court.

A SANE team member is required to complete 64 hours of classroom SANE education and close to 100 hours of clinical orientation before practicing independently. The SANE is required to attend 10 of 12 monthly staff meetings per year, provide at minimum 48 hours of on-call coverage per month and provide 16 hours of on-call coverage on holidays per year. The SANE must have a response time of one hour to St. Anthony North and Central Hospitals, as well as Porter Hospital (starting in late 2010).
