Ideal Experience

  • A successful track record of leading a dynamic, growing organization with a global reach and a transformative mission.
  • A demonstrated commitment to improving women’s status globally and a proven record of valuing the centrality of social science research with a reputation for policy research preferred.
  • Expertise in positioning a global organization through strategic communications, resource development and policy advocacy.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and growing collaborative relationships with other NGO’s, non-profit partners, government agencies, corporations and foundations.
  • An active network of contacts and relationships globally that can be leveraged to benefit ICRW’s work and expand its access to resources.
  • A proven track record of raising funds from diverse sources (individuals, foundations, corporations, bilateral and multilateral agencies). Familiarity with U.S. and European bilateral donors and knowledge of the U.S. policy environment is required.
  • Field experience in the developing world, with particular focus on issues impacting women.
  • Strong leadership credentials with an understanding of the nuances of relationships and interactions among a mission-oriented team of highly educated colleagues.
  • Successful experience working with/reporting to a volunteer board.
  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in a field or discipline related to gender studies and/or international development.

ICRW’s Board of Directors seeks to hire a President who provides inspirational leadership in fulfilling the organization's mission by articulating the vision and strategic direction for the organization, as well as ensuring its financial sustainability, development of the staff team, and overall effectiveness of the organization's research and services. The President serves as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and the leader of the Executive Team.
