Description: 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Monitoring programmatic and administrative activities of cooperative agreements, grants and contracts to ensure objectives are met;
  • Providing technical consultation and support to national, state and local health agencies and non-governmental organizations to plan, develop and implement violence prevention programs;
  • Assessing training and technical assistance needs of grantees;
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with community, state, and national organizations involved in violence prevention efforts.
  • Providing information to constituents on CDC’s efforts to prevent sexual violence, intimate partner violence, youth violence, child maltreatment and suicide.

The Division of Violence Prevention (DVP), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control has openings for a Public Health Advisor/Project Officer to serve in the State, Community Assistance and Partnership Team (SCAP)

The SCAP Team provides leadership and support for violence prevention programs at the state, local and community levels.  Efforts include the development and dissemination of primary prevention strategies, communications activities, training and technical assistance.
