Department Officials Visit Campuses to Raise Awareness On Violence Against Women

On campuses, students face unique challenges. A victim of dating violence, domestic violence, or sexual assault may continue to live in danger if the perpetrator resides in the same dormitory or attends the same classes. On smaller campuses, a victim may wish to remain anonymous but may find this to be virtually impossible in such a small environment.

The Department of Defense today released the fiscal 2009 Annual Report on Sexual Assault in the Military.

Pentagon to track sexual assaults of contractor employees

WASHINGTON -- The sexual assault of employees of U.S. military contractors working in Iraq and Afghanistan will be tracked by the Pentagon under a system it is setting up.


The tracking will likely begin this year, Defense official Gail McGinn said in a memo to the Pentagon's Inspector General included in a report released Friday.
