If you are an adolescent age 12-19 with a mental health concern, a caregiver for such an adolescent, or a mental health provider, please join us for this workshop!The third in a series of four community workshops, this event will feature presentations by Dr. Sybil Knight-Burney, superintendent of the Harrisburg School District, and Mark Heinly, M.D., child and adolescent psychiatrist, who will address the question facing the parents of many adolescents: are these behaviors part of adolescence, or is my child exhibiting symptoms of a mental health issue? Receive free DNA laboratory and data analysis training at the Marshall University Forensic Science Center in Huntington, WV. The week-long training session will be taught by our qualified DNA trainer utilizing lecture presentations, hands-on laboratory activities, and data analysis as described in the course Agenda. Individuals should have a basic knowledge of DNA applications for forensic testing; however, a minimum experience level is not required.

 

Laboratories interested in high-throughput testing, automated methods, or the latest forensic DNA instrumentation will benefit from the training modules provided in this session. Covering each stage of forensic DNA testing, the Advanced DNA Training module emphasizes instrument and software manipulation.

 

Demonstrations of new products, methods and machinery will also be performed and can vary depending on the interest of the training group. The MUFSC can also customize trainings to meet the specific needs of laboratories; including various robotics and liquid handlers which can be made available for specialized training exercises.

The advocate core training content reflects a philosophical approach to services which emphasizes an empowerment model to working with sexual assault survivors.This training satisfies the 30 hours of initial sexual assault training required by the Office of Crime Victims Advocacy. Part 1 is a 7.5 hour online tutorial that you must complete prior to attending Part 2 of this training. You will get access to this online tutorial when WCSAP confirms your registration for the training. Part 2 is a 22.5 hour in-person training that takes place in Lacey from July 29th, 2014 to July 30th.
