TEACH-VIP (Training, Educating, and Advancing Collaboration in Health on Violence and Injury Prevention)

TEACH-VIP E-Learning is an online self-paced curriculum on violence and injury prevention. It addresses a broad range of issues pertinent to understanding and preventing injuries, violence, and suicide, including extensive content on using data to understanding injury problems and creating programs to address these problems. Participants can choose from 20 lessons to create an experience appropriate to their needs and schedule.

In this interview, Rebecca Campbell discuss the five primary reasons that Detroit developed a large number of sexual assault kits that were not submitted to the crime lab for DNA-testing. Dr. Campbell — one of the nation’s foremost experts on sexual assault — also talks about how these “risk factors” could apply to other jurisdictions. These are among the first findings to come in on NIJ’s action-research projects in Houston and Detroit to study the issue of unsubmitted evidence in sexual assault cases.
