This training examines the barriers to providing effective services to older persons; the roles of victim service providers and allied professionals in recognizing elder abuse and providing services; and the resources available to assist victims of elder abuse. Participants will be able to:
Identify the signs of elder abuse, understand its impact on victims, and respond proactively to situations in which they suspect elder abuse.
Name the types of elder abuse and learn ways of obtaining more information, including relevant statutes they may need to respond appropriately when they suspect or identify elder abuse.
Recognize the risk factors for and indicators of elder abuse among older victims, older persons living with other victims, their own family members, or friends, or other individuals.
