Part I: The Assessment and Evaluation of the Adult/Adolescent Sexual Assault Survivor Course
Program Fee: $850 Online and Onsite Class (includes extensive Program materials, teaching assistants and lab experience). This course is designed to provide the professional nurse, nurse practitioner or nurse midwife who wishes to practice as a sexual assault examiner (SANE) or the physician who wishes to refine skills, with a comprehensive educational program. Course content includes how to do the assessment, evaluation and treatment of an adult or adolescent sexual assault survivor. In addition to covering psychosocial aspects of sexual assault, topics will include mechanics and identification of sexual assault injury, forensic concepts, documentation, evidence collection, legal aspects and the role of the provider from initial interventions to courtroom responsibilities. Methods include didactic sessions as well as clinical practice with teaching assistants. A Rutgers certificate will be awarded upon successful completion of the program. Selected days are open to social workers, rape crisis personnel, law enforcement and other interested professionals.
