Building Resiliency within Victim Service Organizations Online Discussion
The Office of Victims of Crime (OVC) will present a Web forum discussion with Karen Kalergis and Janice Harris Lord, LCSW, LPC, on best practices for building resiliency within victim service organizations. Ms. Kalergis is the Associate Director of Education and Communications at the Institute on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault at the University of Texas - Austin, where her primary focus is an OVC-funded training and technical assistance grant to build resiliency in child abuse workers. Ms. Lord is a consultant on crime victims' issues for a number of victim service organizations, with special interest in caregiver resilience, trauma grief, and the role of spirituality in human services. She also is a Fellow in Thanatology with the Association fo Death Education and Couseling, and a member of the Board of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Ms. Lord has worked in the crime victims' movement since 1976, and has an extensive background in personal and agency resilience.
