Conference/Meeting

Upcoming Trainings

I spend so much of my time talking about various online events for continuing education that I sometimes forget 1.) that some people still have money to actually go to trainings and conferences; and 2.) that there's really no substitute for the networking and collegial interaction that goes on at trainings and conferences. For those of you looking at spending some budget funds on live events, March and April are traditionally packed with good stuff, and this year's no exception, no matter what region you're in:

(Events with an * denote ones where I'll be speaking)

There are plenty of others not listed here. For complete listings of all that's happening in our world, check out the Events Calendars at NSVRC and IAFN.

Leadership & Management Workshop

Just a reminder that we still have a handful of spots available for the leadership and management workshop we will be doing at IAFN in Atlanta this year. The workshop will be all day on Saturday, Oct. 24th. If you have any interest in attending, please register soon. Among the topics we will be covering:

  • Budgeting
  • Recruitment and retention
  • Staff evaluation
  • Succession planning and leadership development

The session will be a hands on workshop, using a case file and working in small groups. It should be a fantastic day, but we are almost full!.

Hope to see you there!

Sustainability Slides

If you were unable to attend NSAC last week, or just didn't get to my session, and would like a copy of the slides, you can find them here. To print them out, simply click on the More tab on the upper left corner of the slides and in the drop down menu, you'll see an option to print.

IAFN Leadership & Program Management Workshop

I'd like to give a quick plug for our session at IAFN this year. For those of you attending, we will be doing an all day workshop (PDF) on Saturday, Oct. 24th on program management and leadership development. The workshop will use a mock clinical program case file (given to people in advance) to tackle common issues that develop in the course of running a program. Using a highly interactive small-group approach (facilitated by a faculty person at each table), we will work through problems such as prioritizing in a crisis; budgeting; recruitment/retention; staff evaluation; and strategic planning and benchmarking.

The workshop is being capped at 45 participants, so register soon (it's listed as Code 60 under NSVRC Leadership). It should be a fantastic day. And feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
